Through a unique partnership between LSA Technology Services and the Digital Studies Institute, Mya Kim, a UROP intern from Henry Ford College, enhanced her user experience (UX) design skills in an innovative video game-based research project. Under the mentorship of Joe Bauer and a collaborative team, Kim helped design an interactive exhibit inspired by 8-bit games to foster conversations about social justice, anti-racism, and accessibility. The project culminated in "Mario Night," hosted by DSI, allowing participants to customize and play as characters, sparking important dialogues about representation. Kim's experience has led her to pursue further studies in digital art and design at the Stamps School, potentially adding a DSI minor to her academic journey.
