Cliff Lampe, professor of Information in the School of Information, was quoted on WXYZ discussing the recruitment tools used in the Whitmer kidnapping plot as well as in radicalization overall. The article focuses on the neighbors of one of the men implicated in the plot as well as how radicalization occurs online.

From the article: “They were using a fairly sophisticated ecology of tools to meet different communication needs that they had,” Lampe said of the group targeting the Governor.

He further states, "People are seeking information that comforts them or makes them feel justified in their opinions, as you do that, it's easier and easier to get more extreme in that search.”
